Raytheon Wins $47 Million DLA Contract for F-16 Mission Modular Computer Parts

Raytheon Co. of McKinney, Texas, has received a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract worth up to $46.7 million from the Defense Logistics Agency for line-replaceable units used in the Air Force’s F-16 Mission Modular Computer. DLA’s award notice identifies a performance period of three years and eight months, with completion expected May 31, 2030. DLA Weapons Support Hill at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, is the contracting activity.

F-16 Mission Modular Computer Details

Raytheon will supply replacement mission-computer hardware for the F-16. The related acquisition listing describes the requirement as circuit card assemblies, power supplies and electrical chassis. The government award notice groups the items as Mission Modular Computer line-replaceable units—components that can be replaced within the aircraft’s avionics equipment.

The sole-source justification says Raytheon owns the complete manufacturing data for the covered items. It also says the government lacks the technical data or rights needed to buy them from another source, and that Raytheon declined an April 2025 request to sell data rights. Those constraints shaped the acquisition of the replacement hardware.

F-16 Mission Modular Computer Background

The Air Force is also carrying out a broader Mission Modular Computer and Program Display Generator upgrade intended to increase high-speed data throughput and improve display generation. Its budget documents describe a planned fleet installation of 603 computer kits and 603 display-generator kits. Computer-kit installations began in October 2024; display-generator fielding was expected to start in April 2027 after a schedule delay. Those modernization quantities and milestones describe the broader upgrade, rather than deliveries under DLA’s replacement-parts award.

Award and Contractor Background

The award followed a restricted competition. DLA’s justification says a December 2025 request for information drew no industry responses and identifies Raytheon as the only known capable source. The agency cited unavailable proprietary manufacturing data in support of the sole-source award.

Raytheon has received other DLA awards for related F-16 hardware. A $34.7 million contract, scheduled to run through December 2027, covers electrical chassis, power supplies and circuit card assemblies. A separate $5.4 million award, scheduled through September 2026, covers an estimated 17 circuit card assemblies for Mission Modular Computer spares. Those purchases show earlier procurement of similar components, although the available records do not establish that either is the predecessor to the new award.
