Ophir Corp. of Littleton, Colorado, has received a $34.6 million firm-fixed-price Air Force contract to repair the B-2 Pilot Alert System. The Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, awarded the contract. Ophir will perform the work in Littleton, with completion expected by October 2036. The award provides a long-term repair arrangement for a subsystem used on the B-2 bomber.

B-2 Pilot Alert System Repair Details

Ophir will repair the B-2 Pilot Alert System under the contract. The Air Force award notice identifies repair as the contract’s scope but does not describe component-level procedures or a delivery schedule for repaired units.

The system’s function makes it relevant to the bomber’s low-observable operations. An Environmental Protection Agency technology profile describes the B-2 Pilot Alert System as a laser-based radar system that detects conditions associated with contrails, which can reveal an aircraft’s presence.

B-2 Fleet Sustainment Background

The repair award comes as the Air Force continues to sustain and update the B-2 fleet ahead of the B-21’s fielding. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center said in June 2025 that its B-2 program office manages sustainment and software upgrades intended to keep the aircraft operational during that transition.

Recent depot work illustrates the broader maintenance effort, though it is not identified as part of this Pilot Alert System contract. The “Spirit of Nebraska” completed programmed depot maintenance in 379 days in 2024, 91 days ahead of schedule. The Air Force described the work as a major inspection and repair period in which restoring low-observable materials was a principal objective.

Award and Contractor Background

The Air Force made the award to Ophir as a sole-source acquisition and obligated the full $34.6 million at award. The notice identifies the Air Force Sustainment Center as the contracting activity and Littleton as the place of performance.

This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under FA811927D0001 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
