The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) announced it has awarded a contract for the development of combat system signal processing, tracking algorithms, tools, and display technologies for undersea warfare systems to Metron worth $9.3 million over an initial period ending in September 2026. The cost-plus-fixed fee and cost-only contract, which was competitively procured, will primarily be performed in Reston, Virginia (95%) and Portland, Oregon (5%).

Work to be Completed Under Anti-Submarine Warfare Development for Undersea Systems Contract

According to the sources sought / presolicitation notice, this contract tasks Metron with advancing technologies critical to undersea warfare. Specifically, the work includes the development of combat system signal processing capabilities, tracking algorithms, specialized tools, and display technologies for use in both surface ship and submarine systems.

The contract supports several key Navy programs, including the Undersea Warfare Decision Support System (USW DSS) and Advanced Processing and Capability Builds (AxB) for both surface ships and submarines. These efforts are intended to enhance the Navy’s ability to detect, track, and respond to undersea threats using state-of-the-art technology.

The project is structured with a base year and four option years. If all options are exercised, the cumulative value of the contract could reach $49.4 million and extend through September 2030. This phased approach allows NAVSEA to incrementally build on research and development outcomes as new technologies are validated.

The contract was awarded through a full and open competition, with 28 offers received. Metron’s proposal was selected following a two-phase process that began with white paper submissions in response to a Broad Agency Announcement for Advanced Undersea Technologies.
