McMillen Awarded $28.4 Million Army Corps Webbers Falls Gate Replacement Contract

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced it has awarded McMillen a $19.6 million contract action for the Webbers Falls Tainter Gate Replacement and Repair project, bringing the contract’s total cumulative face value to $28.4 million. The firm-fixed-price contract calls for work in Gore, Oklahoma, through May 31, 2030.
Work to be Completed Under the Webbers Falls Tainter Gate Replacement and Repair Contract
The project covers the design and replacement of existing spillway tainter gates at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam 16 in Muskogee County. The new gates must fit within the facility’s existing structural geometry while meeting current engineering and operational requirements.
McMillen will design, fabricate, deliver and install the replacement gates. The work also includes removing the existing gates, setting stoplogs, storing and salvaging designated components, and completing associated repairs at the lock and dam.
The design will reuse existing features where feasible, including the trunnion yoke anchorage, trunnion girder, trunnion girder anchorage and mechanical equipment. The contractor must verify that these components can accommodate the weight and operating loads of the replacement gates.
The project also calls for modernizing the gate design to reduce fatigue and fracture concerns. Materials and fabrication requirements will be updated to align with current guidance. Additional contract information is available on the HigherGov award page.
The Army Corps’ Tulsa District solicited bids online and received two responses. Civil operation and maintenance funds were obligated at award under contract W912BV-26-C-A021.
A separate presolicitation notice for Webbers Falls excitation system replacements describes another planned project at the powerhouse. That procurement concerns replacement of generating-unit excitation systems and is distinct from the tainter gate work awarded to McMillen.
