Longbow LLC of Orlando, Florida, has received a U.S. Army contract worth up to $419.6 million to provide fire control radar systems and post-production support for AH-64D/E Apache attack helicopters. The award covers radar equipment as well as work to sustain systems already in service. Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, made the award, which has an estimated completion date of Jan. 31, 2032. Work locations and funding will be determined for individual orders.
Apache Fire Control Radar Details
Under the Army’s fire control radar solicitation, Longbow will provide life-cycle support for the Apache radar, including supply support, replenishment spares, component repair and measures to address parts obsolescence. The Army’s acquisition notice describes depot-level maintenance of complex electrical components and support for the hardware, software, test equipment and supply infrastructure needed to sustain the system.
The work encompasses fielded radar components sent to repair facilities, with repaired items and other supplies delivered to U.S. forces at home bases and deployed locations, according to the contract security document. The Army also called for stock management and repair support for legacy and Generation 2 Radar Frequency Interferometer components, including repairs at the line-replaceable module and line-replaceable unit levels.
Longbow’s support will include tracking radar assets and managing diminishing manufacturing sources. The solicitation schedule also identifies work involving mast-mounted assemblies, system testing and a Global Reaction Force package. Its document summary list identifies technical outputs such as obsolescence alerts, logistics data, engineering change proposals and maintenance-and-repair parts reports.
Apache Radar Program Background
The radar is part of the AH-64E’s broader modernization path. The Army’s FY2026 aircraft procurement justification identifies fire control radar enhancements and a Generation 2 Radar Frequency Interferometer among equipment associated with the helicopter. Longbow’s award addresses both radar systems and the continuing support needed for fielded equipment; the award notice does not assign a quantity of new radars.
Award and Contractor Background
The Army solicited one bid and received one. Its acquisition notice said the radar is a proprietary Longbow system for which the government does not possess the technical data package. The solicitation describes this procurement as a follow-on life-cycle support effort, and its security document identifies the preceding Longbow contract.
That earlier support contract, awarded in 2022, had a potential value of $78.1 million and covered services and supplies for the AH-64D/E radar through December 2026. Longbow also holds a radar production contract with a potential value of $224.1 million through September 2030, covering fire control radar systems, radar electronic units and specialized ground-support equipment spares.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under W58RGZ27DA008 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
