Lockheed Martin Wins $16 Million Contract for Air Force F-16 Actuator Units

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. of Fort Worth, Texas, has received a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract worth up to $15.5 million to supply electro-mechanical actuator units for U.S. Air Force F-16 aircraft. Defense Logistics Agency Aviation awarded the two-year contract, with performance scheduled for completion by April 28, 2028. The award is for aircraft components, rather than new aircraft or a fleetwide modification effort.

F-16 Electro-Mechanical Actuator Contract Details

Lockheed Martin will furnish electro-mechanical actuator units for Air Force F-16s. The procurement adds to the parts supply that supports aircraft already in service; the award notice does not identify the actuators’ specific function on the aircraft.

DLA Aviation’s contracting office at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is managing the purchase. The contract covers a two-year performance period ending in April 2028.

F-16 Fleet Background

The Air Force continues to sustain F-16s while upgrading portions of the fleet. Air Force Materiel Command reported in June 2024 that a broader F-16 modification effort spanned more than 18 bases and involved contracts totaling about $6.3 billion. In 2025, the Air Force reported the arrival of upgraded F-16s at Osan Air Base after avionics work intended to improve survivability and weapon accuracy. The actuator purchase is a parts award, not one of those identified modification projects.

Award and Contractor Background

DLA Aviation awarded the contract without competition under its sole-source authority. The notice identifies Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as the awardee and the Air Force as the service that will use the actuator units.
