Lockheed Martin Corp. of Owego, New York, has received an Army contract worth up to $117.1 million for Generation II radar-frequency interferometer (RFI) post-production support services for Apache attack helicopters. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, issued by Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, has an estimated completion date of Oct. 12, 2031. Work locations will be set with individual orders.
Apache Radar-Frequency Interferometer Support Details
Lockheed Martin will provide post-production support for the Apache’s Generation II RFI. The RFI is an electronic-support system that detects, locates and identifies electromagnetic threats and can cue the helicopter’s fire-control radar and target-acquisition systems. It is distinct from the fire-control radar itself.
The award notice does not break the post-production work into individual deliverables; those will be defined through orders. In related Apache fire-control-radar sustainment planning, the Army identified stocking, storage and issuance of both legacy and Generation II RFI components, alongside depot repair of radar-system components. Those planning documents describe the broader sustainment environment, rather than establishing that every listed task falls under Lockheed Martin’s new RFI award.
Apache RFI Background
The Generation II RFI helps Apache crews identify threats in a contested electromagnetic environment. The Army has pursued continued support for that equipment while also working on a newer RFI generation. Post-production support for Generation II hardware therefore remains a distinct requirement from development or production of newer systems.
Award and Contractor Background
The Army solicited one bid and received one. The award uses a mix of cost-no-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price arrangements, with specific work locations determined as orders are placed.
Lockheed Martin also holds a $97.7 million Apache RFI order for Generation II and III production, sustainment hardware, and technical, logistics, test and engineering support, with potential performance through August 2027. An earlier $61.6 million modernized RFI order, with potential performance through October 2026, covered production, sustainment hardware and related support. Those awards show the company’s existing work on Apache RFI equipment, although the new award is specifically for Generation II post-production services.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under W58RGZ27DA007 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
