Welded Steel Barge Contract Details
LAD Services will furnish three newly built barges under the award. All three are specified as welded steel vessels, and the government notice places the contract work in Morgan City.
The Philadelphia District is home to the Corps’ Marine Design Center, which manages the design and construction of barges and other vessels for federal agencies, according to the district’s mission description. The three barges will add to the floating equipment acquired through the district’s contracting activity.
Award and Contractor Background
The Corps received six bids for the contract after soliciting them online. It obligated the full $11.52 million award amount when the contract was made. LAD Services is based in the city where the work will be performed.
The Philadelphia District’s 2024 procurement forecast also listed a planned acquisition of three deck barges, with an anticipated value of $10 million to $25 million. That forecast described a planned procurement, rather than an earlier contract award.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under W912BU26CA043 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
