Gil Sewing Wins $124 Million Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) Coat Contract

Gil Sewing Corp. of Morton Grove, Illinois, has won a Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support contract to supply men’s and women’s Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) dress coats. The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery contract has a maximum value of $123.7 million. The Army will use the coats, and the five-year ordering period runs through Sept. 23, 2031.

Army Green Service Uniform Coat Details

Gil Sewing will furnish dress coats for both the men’s and women’s versions of the AGSU as DLA places orders. The award covers the coats rather than the full uniform ensemble, which also includes trousers or slacks, shirts, headgear and other components.

The coats are part of the service uniform the Army uses for business and office settings, according to its AGSU program description. The award concerns service dress coats, not all-weather outerwear.

Army Green Service Uniform Background

The Army began fielding the AGSU in July 2020 and requires all soldiers to have it by Oct. 1, 2027. Its fiscal 2026 National Guard budget request cited a significant backlog in issuing the uniform to personnel who attended basic training before the transition. The request sought a $22.5 million increase for individual clothing and uniforms, documenting demand for AGSUs as the possession deadline approaches.

Award and Contractor Background

DLA Troop Support received three responses to the competitive procurement. Gil Sewing has also filled DLA coat orders, including a men’s coat order valued at $5.1 million with a February 2024 performance end date and a women’s coat order valued at about $127,000 with a January 2025 performance end date.

This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under SPE1C126D0080 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
