Gaithersburg Farmers Supply Inc. of Gaithersburg, Maryland, has been added to a Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support multiple-award contract for agricultural equipment, with a potential value of up to $86 million. The contract gives military services and other authorized federal customers a way to order commercial equipment through DLA’s Heavy Equipment Procurement Program. The award notice ties the addition to a solicitation originally awarded on July 29, 2022; it does not establish a completion date for Gaithersburg Farmers Supply’s contract.
Heavy Equipment Procurement Program Details
The program covers agricultural and grounds-maintenance equipment for authorized customers worldwide. DLA’s current agricultural-equipment solicitation describes product lines ranging from tractors, utility vehicles and skid steer loaders to mowers, sprayers, balers, chippers and recycling equipment. Contractors receive awards for their product lines, while individual customer orders determine the equipment and delivery location. The award notice does not identify the specific product line covered by Gaithersburg Farmers Supply’s addition.
The current solicitation document calls for new, current-version commercial equipment delivered in operating condition, with operator instructions, service and repair manuals, and parts lists. It also permits support such as operator training, spare parts support and service plans when purchased with new equipment. Those provisions describe DLA’s newer agricultural-equipment procurement, rather than independently establishing the terms of Gaithersburg Farmers Supply’s award under the 2022 solicitation.
Award and Contractor Background
Gaithersburg Farmers Supply joins an existing multiple-award arrangement rather than receiving a stand-alone equipment order. In an August 2022 contract announcement for the same solicitation, the Defense Department reported a five-year agricultural-equipment award to SupplyCore Inc. worth up to $145.4 million and said additional awards were expected. That figure was SupplyCore’s individual contract ceiling, not the value of the entire arrangement.
Gaithersburg Farmers Supply has also received DLA equipment orders under other contracts, including a scoop-loader order valued at about $2.2 million and a wheeled-tractor order valued at about $485,000. Those orders show prior DLA equipment work, but the new $86 million ceiling represents potential orders under this award, not equipment already purchased.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under SPE8EC27D00030 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
