Ethicon US LLC of Raritan, New Jersey, has been added to the Defense Logistics Agency’s multiple-award contract for hospital supplies and equipment available through its Electronic Catalog, or ECAT. The company’s award has a potential value of up to $48 million. Under the Medical Equipment ECAT Generation V program, DLA Troop Support customers can compare suppliers’ catalogs and place orders for medical products. The program’s contracts have performance periods of up to five years, with DLA Troop Support in Philadelphia serving as the contracting activity.
Medical Equipment ECAT Generation V Details
Ethicon’s award gives eligible government customers a way to order its contracted products through ECAT. The program solicitation and statement of work cover commercial equipment used by medical professionals, technicians and laboratory personnel for treatment, testing, operations and patient care, along with equipment accessories and consumables. Training, repair parts, maintenance and routine installation may accompany equipment when applicable. The award notice does not identify Ethicon’s individual catalog items.
The ordering channel serves Defense Department and Department of Veterans Affairs customers worldwide, as well as other eligible federal customers. DLA Troop Support is the single point of order entry. The solicitation provides for direct shipment to customers in the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico; shipments to other overseas destinations generally move through a consolidation point.
A 2026 solicitation amendment addresses medical devices and systems that receive, process, store, display or transmit data to government systems. For Defense Department orders, suppliers must meet applicable cybersecurity requirements and obtain or pursue the required security approval. They must reject an ECAT requirement if the offered device cannot meet those requirements, including any applicable site-specific rules.
Award and Contractor Background
DLA first awarded the Generation V multiple-award contract on Feb. 10, 2022, and has continued adding suppliers. Its standing solicitation followed an earlier ECAT equipment solicitation that closed in August 2021. The multiple-award structure allows DLA customers to compare products from different contractors; Ethicon’s $48 million figure is a contract ceiling, rather than an amount already ordered.
Other additions illustrate the program’s continuing use: NAR Medical Depot received a $49 million award in February 2025, and a Defense Department contract update identified Pro Alliance Corp. as a $15 million awardee in 2025. Ethicon’s addition places the company among those suppliers under the same purchasing channel.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under SPE2DH27D0001 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
