The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, has awarded a $50 million firm-fixed-price contract for operations and maintenance dredging to eight small business contractors. The five-year Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) vehicle will cover various waterways and reservoirs within the district’s area of responsibility. Work locations will be determined with each order, and the contract is set aside for small businesses.

Work to be Completed Under Operations and Maintenance Dredging MATOC Contract

Per the original solicitation, the selected contractors will provide comprehensive dredging services across several key navigational channels and lakes in Illinois and Missouri. The scope of work includes furnishing all necessary plant, labor, operators, supervision, equipment, transportation, supplies, materials, and incidentals to perform dredging functions on tributaries, rivers, and reservoirs managed by the St. Louis District.

The required work encompasses:

  • Dredging operations to maintain navigable waterways
  • Borrow operations for material sourcing
  • Disposal operations and management of disposal sites
  • Care of water during construction activities
  • Turfing and site restoration as specified in individual task orders

Task orders under this MATOC will vary significantly in size and scope, ranging from approximately $20,000 to $15 million depending on funding availability. The actual place of performance for each task order will be determined as work is assigned but may include:

  • Kaskaskia River Navigation Channel (River Mile 0-36)
  • Mississippi River Channel (River Mile 0-300)
  • Illinois River Navigation Channel (River Mile 0-80.15)
  • Carlyle Lake (IL), Rend Lake (IL), Lake Shelbyville (IL)
  • Wappapello Lake (MO), Mark Twain Lake (MO)

This contract supports the Corps’ mission to maintain safe and efficient navigation along major inland waterways and reservoirs. The work is essential for flood risk management, commercial navigation, and environmental stewardship within the region.
