Echodyne Wins Up to $250 Million Army Counter-Drone Contract for Domestic Shield

Echodyne Corp. of Kirkland, Washington, has won an Army contract worth up to $250 million to provide commercial counter-unmanned aircraft system capabilities, including capabilities aimed at small drones. The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery contract was awarded Sept. 28, 2026, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 27, 2029. Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal will determine work locations and funding through individual orders. The award is among the counter-drone contracts the Army has identified as supporting its Domestic Shield effort.

Commercial Counter-UAS Contract Details

Echodyne will provide counter-drone capabilities as the Army places orders under the contract. The award notice describes the work broadly rather than identifying a particular Echodyne product, equipment quantity or delivery schedule. Its $250 million value is a ceiling for potential orders, not an amount already ordered.

In its announcement of the counter-UAS awards, the Army described a broader set of capabilities ranging from compact radars and tracking cameras to systems for defeating drones. It named Echodyne among multiple awardees but did not assign specific equipment from that list to the company’s contract.

Domestic Shield Background

Domestic Shield is intended to protect risk-prioritized U.S. military facilities and assets from drones. The Joint Interagency Task Force overseeing the effort is using a counter-UAS marketplace to connect validated commercial equipment with operational needs. The task force has also issued common testing guidelines so counter-drone technologies can be evaluated using comparable data. Echodyne’s award gives the Army a means to order capabilities within that wider effort.

Award and Contractor Background

The Army received 50 bids after soliciting the contract online. Echodyne also received a separate Army award valued at up to $3.5 million for EchoShield radars, deployment kits, software updates, technical support and professional services, with a potential performance end date of March 27, 2026. That earlier award documents related radar work but does not establish which products the Army will order under the new contract. Echodyne’s contractor profile lists its other federal awards.
