The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, has awarded a $15 million contract for automated hydrographic and topographic surveying services to DIMCO, EMC, and Prairie Engineers over a five-year period. The contract is structured as a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) with firm-fixed-price terms, and work will be performed primarily within the Vicksburg District, with locations and funding determined per task order. The award was set aside for small businesses.
Work to be Completed Under Hydrographic Surveying and Mapping Services Contract
The contract encompasses professional services for automated hydrographic surveying—including both single-beam and multi-beam methods—and automated topographic surveying in support of maintenance dredging and mat sinking operations. The scope of work covers the Mississippi River, its tributaries, smaller rivers, streams, and associated harbors within the Vicksburg District, but may extend to other areas within the Mississippi Valley Division as needed.
Specific tasks include conducting Automated Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Differential GPS hydrographic surveys and acquiring river current and discharge data using Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) and single beam depth sounders. Contractors will routinely measure discharge along the Mississippi, Red, and Ouachita Rivers, process data using specialized software, and report findings to the Corps of Engineers.
Additional responsibilities involve collecting daily water stage data at approximately 50 gaging sites throughout the district, maintaining permanent reference elevation markers at each site, and infrequently collecting suspended sediment samples at specified discharge ranges. Contractors may also be called upon to perform special purpose flow pattern measurements at locks and dams or verify their systems against conventional discharge methods.
The MATOC structure allows for task orders to be issued based on specialized experience, past performance, project schedules, and current workload. Each contract carries a minimum guarantee of $1,000. The estimated annual workload is about $3 million, with a cumulative ceiling of $15 million across all three awardees over five years.
