Cepheid has been added as an awardee to a Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support multiple-award contract for laboratory equipment, accessories and consumables offered through DLA’s Electronic Catalog, or ECAT. The Sunnyvale, California, company’s award has a maximum value of $49 million. It joins a five-year laboratory-supplies vehicle first awarded on Feb. 24, 2023, giving customers another supplier through DLA’s online medical purchasing channel.
Electronic Catalog Laboratory Supplies Details
Cepheid’s contract covers the supply of laboratory products through ECAT rather than work at a designated laboratory. DLA describes the catalog as a way for military and other federally funded customers to search commercial supplier offerings, compare products and place orders. The laboratory category encompasses equipment and consumables; the award listing identifies the broad product categories but does not name the Cepheid items to be offered.
Under DLA’s ECAT customer guide, the system handles product search, ordering, approval, receipt and payment, with pricing presented as a total delivered price that accounts for transportation, distribution and administrative costs. DLA describes the channel as serving both fixed medical facilities and deployed forces. Its published delivery times describe the catalog service generally, not a delivery commitment attached to Cepheid’s award.
Award and Contractor Background
Cepheid joins an established supplier roster. In the initial February 2023 award announcement, DLA named Hologic as an awardee with a $27 million maximum and said suppliers would compete for a portion of a $495 million vehicle ceiling. A 2025 contract update added Alliant Healthcare Products with a $43.75 million maximum. Those amounts are contracting ceilings, not spending reported under the awards.
Cepheid has also supplied DLA-channel customers under earlier orders for patient-testing reagents and laboratory supplies. HigherGov lists, for example, a patient-testing reagent order valued at up to about $655,000 with a potential performance end in September 2026 and a laboratory-testing supply order valued at up to about $271,000 with a potential performance end in September 2025. Those orders illustrate prior purchases of Cepheid products; the new award establishes a separate $49 million maximum for its place on the laboratory-supplies vehicle.
This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under SPE2DE27D0001 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
