BAE Systems Wins $19 Million Navy Order for P-8A Poseidon Crew Workstations

BAE Systems and Electronics Inc. of Greenlawn, New York, has received an $18.9 million firm-fixed-price Navy order for 10 combat system mission crew workstations for the P-8A Poseidon. The equipment supports the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft program managed by PMA-290. Work will take place in Greenlawn and is expected to be completed by September 2028. Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane awarded the order on a sole-source basis under an existing basic ordering agreement.

P-8A Mission Crew Workstation Details

BAE will provide the 10 workstations as components of the P-8A’s combat system. The mission crew use these stations to interact with the aircraft’s sensors and weapons during maritime patrol operations, including anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare and intelligence collection.

The procurement covers workstations, rather than complete aircraft. BAE has said each P-8A uses two of the stations, but the Navy’s award notice does not identify the aircraft that will receive this order’s equipment. The underlying agreement also covers mission-computer spares, repairs and engineering services; this order is specifically for workstation procurement.

P-8A Poseidon Program Background

The P-8A is a widely fielded maritime patrol aircraft. The Navy had delivered 119 aircraft to fleet squadrons by March 2024 and completed transition training across 14 fleet squadrons and one fleet replacement squadron, according to Naval Air Systems Command.

The Navy is also upgrading the fleet’s combat-system capabilities. In June 2025, it announced completion of the first aircraft’s Increment 3 Block 2 modifications, which include improved processing and security architecture, communications, track management and acoustics systems. The workstation order supports the P-8A program, though the award notice does not assign the 10 units to that modification effort.

Award and Contractor Background

The Navy awarded both the ordering agreement and this job order on a sole-source basis, citing BAE as the only responsible source able to meet its requirements. The agreement began in August 2025 and runs through August 2030.

Another $37.1 million order under the agreement covers combat system mission crew workstations and conversion kits for maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. That work is being performed in Greenlawn by BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc., identified in the order description as the equipment’s original manufacturer.

This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under N0016426FM028 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
