BAE Systems Wins $19 Million Navy Order for P-8A Mission Crew Workstations

BAE Systems and Electronics Inc. has received an $18.9 million firm-fixed-price Navy order for 10 combat system mission crew workstations for the P-8A Poseidon. The workstations are being procured for the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft program managed by PMA-290. Work will take place in Greenlawn, New York, and is expected to be completed by September 2028. Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane awarded the order under an existing basic ordering agreement.

P-8A Mission Crew Workstation Details

BAE will supply 10 workstations that form part of the P-8A’s combat system. They are crew-facing mission equipment, rather than aircraft or ground-based systems. The award notice identifies procurement of the workstations as the scope of this order.

The order supports PMA-290’s P-8A fleet, which the Navy uses for maritime patrol and reconnaissance. The Navy’s P-8A program description identifies acquisition, sustainment and continuing modernization as responsibilities of the program office.

P-8A Program Background

The workstation purchase comes as the Navy continues to update the P-8A’s mission systems. In April 2026, the Navy announced initial operating capability for Increment 3 Block 2, an upgrade that includes improved combat-system computing and security, communications, track management and acoustic capabilities. The Navy’s announcement does not identify the workstations in this order as part of that upgrade.

Award and Contractor Background

The Navy awarded both the underlying basic ordering agreement and this order on a sole-source basis, citing one responsible source capable of meeting its requirements. The agreement began in August 2025 and covers mission computers, spares, repairs and engineering services.

Another order under the same agreement, valued at $37.1 million, covers combat system mission crew workstations and workstation conversion kits for maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. That order identifies BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc. as the original equipment manufacturer performing the work in Greenlawn.

This award was disclosed by the DoW in its daily press release. Additional contract details will be available on HigherGov in approximately 90 days under N0016426FM028 after the contract is formally disclosed by the government.
