Allison Transmission announced it has been awarded an $83.3 million contract for providing upgraded and new X1100 transmissions for the Abrams Main Battle Tank variants used by the U.S. Army and Foreign Military Sales customers. The contract is set to begin in January 2024 and will continue through December 2024.

The contract stipulates that Allison will deliver upgraded and new transmissions to meet the performance demands of the Abrams tank. The upgrade program by Allison combines new content with existing customer hardware to provide a zero-mileage transmission. This supports the Abrams System Enhancement Package version 3 tanks, offering significant savings to the customer. The Abrams tank, which has seen numerous upgrades and enhancements, is considered the world's most capable tank.

Dana Pittard, Vice President for Defense Programs at Allison Transmission, expressed pride in being part of the world's main battle tank supporting the U.S. Army and their close partners. He also expressed anticipation for the continued support of these customers in the coming decades. Allison's commitment to quality and reliability aligns with the U.S. Army's readiness objectives and performance demands, while also developing new capabilities to meet evolving warfighter demands. This contract continues Allison's long-term relationship with the U.S. Army, built on quality, reliability, and commitment to the warfighter.

Contracts will become available on HigherGov within 30 to 90 days once the contract is formally awarded by the government.
