The U.S. Air Force has awarded 21 companies contracts worth up to $2.4 billion collectively to repair, overhaul, remanufacture and newly manufacture parts for Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220/229 engines used on F-15 and F-16 aircraft. The awardees include ACMT, Bedek Aviation Group Israel Aerospace Industries, three Chromalloy companies and RTX. The work will support U.S. Air Force and foreign military sales requirements and be performed at the contractors’ locations in the United States, Canada, Israel and Belgium. The Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, issued the awards, with work expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2036.

SPEED MAC Details

The Strategic Procurement for Engine Excellence and Delivery Speed, or SPEED MAC, solicitation describes a parts-sustainment effort intended to supplement F100 services at Tinker and manufacturing support for the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex. Contractors can receive orders for serviceable parts produced through repair or overhaul, remanufacture of existing components, or new manufacture. The scope is parts rather than complete engines.

For overhaul work, contractors will inspect items when they arrive, assess disassembled components to determine whether further repair is needed, and process parts under applicable technical instructions. The overhaul performance work statement requires contractors to investigate reported product defects and keep documentation for government acceptance inspections conducted at the repair site.

For remanufacturing, the statement of work calls for replacement parts that match the required engine configuration and produce a serviceable, zero-time end item. Contractors will track the status of serialized, life-limited components in the Comprehensive Engine Management System. The document also calls for an annual Air Force planning conference that will provide awardees with a one-year schedule of anticipated requirements and a three-year forecast to guide supplier and production planning.

Award and Contractor Background

The Air Force received 27 offers for the competed multiple-award procurement. Its $2.4 billion figure is a combined contract ceiling, not an amount assigned to each company; $10,500 was obligated across the 21 awards at the time of the announcement. The contracts also cover potential foreign military sales requirements from customers across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

The awardees are ACMT; Bedek Aviation Group Israel Aerospace Industries; Chromalloy Component Services, Chromalloy Gas Turbine and Chromalloy San Diego; Jedco; Paramount Machine Company; Bet Shemesh Engines; Schaeffler Aerospace Canada; Turbochrome; PAS Technologies; Ferrotherm; Patria Belgium Engine Center; Barnes Group; C.F. Roark Welding & Engineering; RTX; Southern Aero Partners; Transaero; Union Machine Company of Lynn; Wall Colmonoy; and Numet Acquisition.

Several awardees have performed narrower F100 parts work for the Air Force. A Barnes Group order worth up to $1.9 million covered turbine-case remanufacturing, with performance scheduled through October 2025. A Bet Shemesh order worth up to $1.5 million covers overhaul of F100-PW-220 third-stage turbine vanes, with potential performance through May 2028. Those component-specific orders illustrate work conducted within the same engine supply chain; the new contracts encompass a broader range of parts-sustainment requirements.
