This Applications Investment develops and sustains quality technical software applications to support the USSS enterprise and its Protective and Investigative missions. The USSS IT Infrastructure investment is required to maintain and manage the underlying core of IT support services. Operational demands over the past few years have identified the need for a major modernization and an end-to-end re-architecting of the ITSI and communications systems. Much of the existing ITSI is dated, beyond its expected lifecycle, and at risk of failing. Networks, data systems, applications, and IT security are not meeting current operational requirements, and IT systems lack appropriate bandwidth to run multiple, demanding applications simultaneously to effectively support USSS offices and operational activities around the world. The value to the public of this investment is USSS support for ongoing National Security Support Events (NSSE) and Campaign events.
