Description
This investment addresses challenges around managing USPTO facilities planning, facility management services for USPTO computer facilities; physical environment & electrical support; equipment management and tracking for hardware devices in these facilities. It also addresses Infrastructure Services - Servers Technical services for physical & virtual servers in Data Centers. Hardware and software maintenance, monitoring, operations support etc. physical aspect - below the OS layer, and Infrastructure Services - Storage Technical services for storage in Data Centers. Ops of Legacy Storage; hardware and software maintenance, management of SIMS contract; customer order review and processing.

Investment Detail

This investment includes the following initiatives/benefits:

Alexandria Datacenter Modernization and Improvements Project; implement new tools to better manage the OCIO Data Center; install a Morse Watchman Key management system; execute contact to supply two way radio equipment for Data Center engineering and Operations and Network Cabling; mount large screens in the Data Center engineering and Operations area to allow for monitoring of Siemen's data and Manassas video surveillance feeds; design, installation, and configuration of an Active RFID system for Manassas production Data Center

Supports the USPTO Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) program as the alternate processing site (APS) for USPTO operations. The APS provides USPTO a means of continuing core business processes for the agency and Continuity of Operations (COOP) mission essential functions in the event of an emergency, power failure, or threat if the agency's primary location is unavailable for use

Maintains the USPTO AWS Cloud Services (UACS) enterprise system and hosted systems 24x7 availability, to include administration of UACS, Google, operational capabilities; continues work on Linux and Windows baseline images, monitoring/logging, networking enhancements, standard account configurations, and DNS - future capabilities include new functionality and features, to include console and API Federation, cloud storage backup, multi-DR capability, cost optimization, enhancement of capabilities to be fault tolerant and highly available, compliance automation, deployment automation, and support for containers.

Continues market research on Public Cloud space, reviewing contract awards in support of PC-S related areas, ongoing improvement of core components of the UACS system with out-year plans to consolidate Public Cloud infrastructures and building future pathways to alternatives.
