PD Digital Productivity Tools

With approximately 1,300 staff using Slack, IIP and PD colleagues in Washington and overseas rely on this platform as an essential means of communicating and collaborating on a day-to-day basis. The tool is in high demand because it is easy to access, highly intuitive, requires very little training to learn, and models the type of transparent communications that users expect in a modern workplace. IIP separately procured Basecamp software service in 2014 to meet IIP's needs for a collaboration vehicle for its task force and focused working groups that are of a limited duration. IIP received approval from IRM s Information Assurance Directorate (IA) in April 2014 to use Basecamp at the FIMS LOW risk level. The Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) needs to provide its staff and the larger global public diplomacy workforce with the latest digital productivity tools to increase efficiency, mobility, transparency, and collaboration, enabling us to more effectively carry out the mission of global public diplomacy. The Office of Policy, Outreach and Governance not only manages its PD Digital Productivity Toolset for the IIP Bureau, it also supports these IIP implementations by providing training, technical support, on-boarding orientation and governance. By centralizing this support in one office, we communicate the same branding, training venues, centralized help and governance to the PD community. Also, providing a central office to budget and procure any PD Digital Productivity Tools contracts allows for cost-savings / benefits of scale for the rest of PD and the Department.
