Description
Pay.gov satisfies agencies and consumers demands for electronic alternatives by providing the ability to complete forms, make payments and submit queries 24 hours a day electronically. Pay.gov provides a suite of services allowing agencies to obtain and process collections in an efficient and timely manner. Pay.gov is web-based allowing customers make payments and to access their accounts from any computer with Internet access.

Pay.gov life cycle benefits are based on historic unit cost for processing Internet based collection transactions versus the unit cost of paper-based collection methods which results in a cost avoidance. Pay.gov is a more efficient collection mechanism as compared to paper-based collections as measured by the unit cost (.24 in FY2022.).
Revenue Collection Management (RCM), a department of Treasury's Fiscal Service, charged Pay.gov with supporting Treasury's goals through the following business goals:
Promote financial stability through financial sector critical infrastructure and cybersecurity. (Supports Fiscal Service Strategic Goal One)
Transform government-wide financial stewardship through financial data access and use, debt management, and federal financial performance. (Supports Fiscal Service Strategic Goals Four and Five)
Achieve operational excellence. (Supports Fiscal Service Strategic Goal One).
Planned Cost Avoidance for FY22 was $570M and $600M respectively for FY23.
In FY2022 there were 51.7 million visits to the Pay.gov website. As we have seen a recovery from the pandemic the Pay.gov generated over 93 million transactions worth over $232B. Pay.gov exceeded the $210B dollar projection to process $232 B in FY2022.
