This investment's service provide for information management compliance functions provided by the OCIO that are required by various laws and regulations including: Records Management, Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This service centrally manages the DOI's electronic records through an official, centralized system for storage, retrieval, management and preservation of all records. This approach incorporates the primarily paper-based records system to manage both electronic and paper records. The purpose of this project is to continue the preservation/proper management of federal records and documents for the DOI. This investment also provides for records storage at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). NARA preserves/manages records that are no longer necessary to be located in the immediate program office but have not reached a final disposition action.
