Investment Detail
Benefits from the VSLRA are: 1. Update outdated information systems with current technology to improve the government's ability to respond to both internal and external customer needs quickly; 2. By moving the support functions from paper to digital systems AIMS increases efficiency and data record training in those areas; 3. By integrating local systems with each other as well as VS and APHIS wide-systems AIMS will reduce data transmission time lags and inaccuracy; 4. AIMS improves efficiencies in the support function of the NCAH by taking advantage of new digital systems, incorporating technological advances, and reducing duplication of work across multiple systems. AIMS replaces outdated software and hardware used in the past to leverage modern technologies to reduce the number of actual physical servers on the USDA/APHIS network, allow better software maintenance to improve availability and improve security of the data on the network. The VSLRA investment supports the enforcement of the Virus-Serum-Toxin Act regulations in 9 CFR part 116.
