MSSS infrastructure directly relates to filing season activities and submission processing, Disaster Recovery (DR) and Alternate Site Processing (ASP), as well as monitoring and the health of all infrastructure components, software, utilities and applications.
*Enterprise Informatica Platform (EIP)- Replaced the existing, Enterprise Informatica Platform (EIP) Linux servers that have been identified as obsolete with new servers with updated hardware. Benefits included:
Eliminate filing season risk of inadequate capacity. Overall cost savings from EIP's DEV, and TEST environments being consolidated into one computing center.
Better performance and ability to leverage Informatica burst license from the DR/ASP environment having 192 physical CPU cores.
Better testing capabilities from FIT environment as there will be a FIT-MTB and FIT-MEM that will mirror the Production and DR/ASP environments allowing projects to perform DR failover scenario testing in the FIT environment
*Automation of Standard Stack - By automating build functions, moving to standard stack components and using virtual servers, successfully zeroed out a backlog of more than 400 requests for virtual servers, including requests for high-profile initiatives supporting the Secure Access Digital Identity (SADI) Initiative and the Advanced Child Tax Credit (ACTC). Funded and authorized requests for virtual servers are now ordered through an automated portal and delivered within 14 days on average upon approval of the request. In addition, time is saved by conducting reviews with all stakeholders at one after a request is entered. On average, approximately 2,500 servers are requested each year to support IRS business units in meeting their compute and data storage needs. With the push to standard stack, even high priority projects with extremely short timeframes such as SADI and ACTC can be fulfilled within 2 to 3 days when needed. We are able to better serve the taxpayer while maintaining a standardized and secure portfolio of servers that reduces overhead and support costs.
* Deployment Release Integration and Visibility Engine (DRIVE)- transitioned 80+ technology projects from various legacy processes to the Deployment Release Integration and Visibility Engine (DRIVE). This streamlined approach to modernizing aging applications and processes resulted in significant savings in time and money. This success means the IRS is able to continuously deploy upgrades and changes to the technology environment.
*Modernized e-File Migration replaced the outdated hardware and software that supports one of IRS's most critical platforms -- Modernized e-File (MeF) through which more than 80% of taxpayer submissions are completed. The MeF Migration Team's ultimate success is celebrated in the improved customer experience for the American taxpayer who saw faster performance and responsiveness even during the busiest filing times.
*Enterprise Case Management (ECM) streamlined the case and workload management processes to improve how the IRS serves taxpayers, businesses, tax-exempt organizations, and others. Delivered ECM Release 1, a new secure, cloud-based platform that allows Tax Exempt/Government Entities (TE/GE) to access the data they need to provide a seamless and satisfactory customer service experience.
*Dual Power - collaborated extensively to greatly enhance day-to-day system reliability of the IRS Enterprise Computing Centers.
