Investment Detail

By eliminating our existing MED-IT asset #299 when full Production is achieved for the new EHR, MED estimates a $712,480 savings (beginning FY 2023).
The true Returns on Investment are qualitative, and include:
-a comprehensive primary care, pediatric, family medicine, and obstetric EHR will be implemented to 207 US diplomatic missions worldwide available to an estimated 450 medical providers and 1500 support staff
-the EHR system will be hosted on the DOS cloud environment creating a centrally located instance of all EHR medical patient data accessible through the DOS Opennet network
-all MED Health Units will have an integrated telehealth capability enabling virtual patient engagement and reducing or alleviating the requirement for travel for in-person visits
-MED providers will have mobile capability with an Android and iOS smartphone and tablet app, available when low broadband speed is present enabling health information portability at the point of care and remote patient monitoring and patient care
-MED leadership and Regional Medical Officers will have transparency to Health Unit productivity, clinical documentation, and analytics that will alleviate Regional Medical Officers from manually collating and aggregating data into required medical population health reporting and will increase the timeliness and visibility into trends and potential issues
-a comprehensive patient portal will allow DOS patients to have on-demand access to their personal health record in addition to secure bi-directional communication; the provider can push educational materials to the patient
-MED's Secure Messaging Portal will allow the secure exchange of PII and PHI outside of Opennet.
