HRSA - CARES Act Provider Relief Fund (COVID-19)

Investment ID: 009-000455733

Overview

Program Title
HRSA - CARES Act Provider Relief Fund (COVID-19)
Description
HRSA was designated as the agency responsible for distributing the $175 billion COVID-19 Provider Relief Funds to hospitals and healthcare providers. Over the course of a few days, HRSA had to develop a process for using data to support the distribution of funds to eligible providers. While HRSA is a large grant making organization, PRF involved standing up a new distribution process, targeting new population of providers, that was to be distributed in tranches over the course of many weeks. The amount of money to be distributed was 15 times greater than what HRSA typically disseminates over the course of a year. Given the size, scope, and complexity of the PRF program, HRSA needed to rapidly ramp up data and technology capabilities to support the massive effort, which involved contracting with vendors who could quickly provide needed services.
