Investment Detail
The CDSI investment includes the Conservation Desktop (CD) system which has both quantitative and qualitative components to its return on investment (ROI). The qualitative ROI component includes: delivery of high-quality and science-based technical assistance, an accelerated timeline to acquire signed contracts, reduction and/or elimination of requirements for office visits, accelerated payments to clients, reduction in the time it takes for clients to finalize planned & contracting documents, enabling field-based employees to spend 75% of their time in the field (getting conservation on the ground), and offers clients 24/7/365 on-line access. The quantitative ROI component includes: cost redirection of $130,673,400 per year throughout the life cycle due to 1,523 staff years being redirected to technical assistance, saves customers 750K hours annually, improves business process and IT tools allowing Agency to redirect 1,523 staff years back to providing direct technical assistance to NRCS's clients, and positive end user customer satisfaction application survey results.
