Investment Detail
The return on investment is achieved in the reduction of multiple applications performing the same processes, the reduction of paper driven workflows, reporting functionality that is agency-wide and an agency wide business process rather than center driven. By combining many of the administrative processes, many that are mandated, in an enterprise environment results in reduced cost for infrastructure, support services, and long-term maintenance. An example of cost savings at the business level is the FOI OnLine Request application. Over the ten years the application has been available to the public, the number of request electronically received has increased from 0% to over 80%. The result is a reduction in the number of staff required to receive and manage the overall request. The ability to send communication and response information electronically has also reduced the agency cost for supplies and postage.
