Description
Bulk buy is an FBI-wide purchasing effort that happens at least biyearly to streamline the internal purchasing process of desktops, printers, laptops, tablets, and associated accessories as well as to gain cost and lead time advantages resulting from economies of scale.

Investment Detail
1 Provides an efficient and streamlined procurement process for the relevant IT equipment;
2 - Reduces the total IT purchase expenditures as the result of the economy of scale gained from the centralized procurement vehicle that is utilized by all Divisions and Field Offices;
3- Offers IT equipment that supports the standardization of IT hardware across the Bureau, which in turn leads to:
- The implementation of few approved products for every category of IT hardware that could be used enterprise-wide;
- The reduction of internal administrative costs (hours expended by the contracts and engineering teams and other stakeholders) by eliminating the need to test, approve and negotiate non- standard models/configurations of equipment that users may purchase; and
- The enhancement of internal and external customer service that the user community receives by limiting the number of models that technicians have to familiar with to resolve routine issues and by providing standard after sale warranty coverage by all of the selected vendors.
4 Plays a critical role in gathering requirements for the relevant equipment from all stakeholders so that the products offered on the contract adequately address the technical needs of the user community.
