Investment Detail

This investment allows the Department of Education to conduct its rulemaking activities in accordance with the E-government Act of 2002, which requires Federal agencies to use electronic dockets for rulemakings; and in accordance with the policies and guidance of OMB and the White House, including the Executive Order mandating transparency. This is undoubtedly the most cost-effective way to comply with these Federal mandates, as ED pays a small fraction of the total cost to run a web-based e-rulemaking platform. The alternative, paying to administer an ED-only e-rulemaking web-based platform, would cost exponentially more money.
