Description
Strategic Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (SHIRA) helps DOI improve the understanding of risks to DOI assets, resources, and lands from various natural and anthropogenic threats. This system assists DOI's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) with risk-management capabilities and other strategic planning efforts. OEM provides the management and oversight for SHIRA, and OEM provides the funds to USGS to perform the SHIRA IT activities. IT leverages geospatial services. Initiated in 2019, SHIRA supports all Emergency management programs across DOI.
