Investment Detail

Improving the business process with modernized capabilities and tools will speed creation of tax forms, instructions and publications, in in turn enabling quicker deployment of taxpayer outreach, education, and on-demand accessibility. The modernized system would greatly reduce the number of older systems and associated O&M costs. It would also ensure data consolidation into one system, minimizing manual input, thereby reducing errors. CAPS NexGen would modernize data transport within the IRS, resulting in cost savings in software, hardware, and contractor services.

Another benefit of system modernization is greater management control and reporting on legislative mandates. CAPS NexGen will automatically capture metadata from Technical Authorities regarding statutory regulations and will permit analysis and reporting on such items as time invested on products by specific categories such as ACA and FACTA. This capability will also ensure rigorous tracking of product workflow while preparing for filing season readiness. The replacement of legacy systems will provide management a system that provides total management over the complete forms and publication creations and distribution process.
