CMS Providing Medicare Claims Data to PDP Sponsors (NM)

In February 2018, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (BBA) was signed into law and it included a provision requiring the development of a process to share Medicare claims data with Medicare Part D Plan (PDP) sponsors. In response, with the support of a contractor, CMS will develop a process to provide PDP sponsors with Medicare Parts A and B claims data for their enrollees to promote the appropriate use of medications and to improve health outcomes. The contractor will develop the infrastructure required to operationalize this data request process including developing an Application Programming Interface (API) to allow PDP sponsors to securely access claims data for their enrollees.
