CBP - Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)

Investment ID: 024-000005135

Overview

Program Title
CBP - Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
Description
The Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) investment supports the Trade and Travel Operations program. C-TPAT assists CBP in measuring risk by identifying import transactions where the risk is low, allowing CBP to focus on high-risk transactions based on the data. The program helps safeguard the public by reducing terrorist threat and providing shorter wait times at the border. Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program evaluates and manages companies for risk involved in transporting cargo in and out of the US. Low risk companies can join and remain part of the CTPAT program. Companies that are low risk and become high risk are managed and educated in security methods that would improve their security posture thus allowing them to remain in CTPAT. This allows CBP to target potentially high-risk cargo in international supply chains by excluding CTPAT partners because they are determined to be less of a threat.
