Description
Benefits.gov is the official benefits website of the U.S. Government, providing citizens with information and eligibility prescreening services for more than 1,000 federal benefit and assistance programs. DOL, as the Managing Partner, initiated the interagency Benefits.gov Program and continues to lead all program and system development activities for the E-Government Program. Before Benefits.gov, citizens looking for government assistance had to search through multiple government websites, often finding out-of-date or conflicting information. Citizens wasted time applying to programs they were not eligible for and government wasted time and tax dollars reviewing ineligible applications. Benefits.gov was the solution, providing citizens with an easily accessible resource to search for benefit information and determine eligibility. Citizens obtain value by more quickly identifying programs they may be eligible for, while learning about benefits they may not have known about otherwise.
