Investment Detail
The Mobile Development (MD) program creates mobile interfaces for simple and complex applications, which are released to the iTunes/Google App Stores and web-applications that are housed in the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) and operate in the VA Mobile Framework (VAMF). To date there are over 40 mobile apps in the VA app store to address a myriad of Veteran/provider needs. One of these apps, VA Online Scheduling (VAOS), assists Veterans outside the traditional VA setting in viewing, cancelling, requesting and/or directly scheduling appointments with his/her medical provider. In FY20, VAOS deployed at 138 medical facilities where over 171K appointment requests and 96K self-scheduled appointments have been made. VA Video connect is a Veteran and provider facing app that allows a Veteran to schedule a video visit with his/her medical provider, thus saving the need to travel to a VA facility. The Bed Management Solution (BMS) provides a real-time interface with Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) to track patient movement and bed status to optimize patient access to hospital beds, patient flow and improve quality of care and service delivery. Finally, the Veteran Transportation Program (VTP) provides mileage reimbursement to eligible Veterans to offset costs associated with travel to hospitals and improves ease of using the beneficiary travel system when having to travel outside of area for healthcare. The Veterans Transportation Program (VTP) seeks to continue implementation of the 2010 EVEAH/ T-21 Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) Initiative by improving travel and transportation services, implementing Mobility Management and establishing a network of community transportation service providers that include the Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs), community transportation providers and federal, state and local government transportation services such as United We Ride, supporting Veteran Access to Care.
