Government Description
National academy of science studies and decadal surveys for space and earth science. This work includes providing NASA with strategic level assessments and expert advice on science and technology programs in space science, earth science, and biological and physical science in space, including conducting decadal surveys. Activities performed encompass convening workshops, roundtables, and committees to address topics such as engaged research, solar and space physics, earth science, family caregivers in stem, polar research, science activation, atmospheric sciences and climate, ocean studies, space weather, and high priority science campaigns for human exploration of the moon and mars. The national academies also produce consensus study reports and evaluations to inform NASA's science priorities and policy decisions.
