Government Description
Biological testing facility IDIQ. The Biological Testing Facility (BTF) supports the National Institutes of Health (NIH) eunice kennedy shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Contraceptive Discovery Program (CDP) by providing a state-of-the-art facility for the discovery, optimization, and preclinical development of contraceptive agents, including safety and efficacy evaluations, pharmacokinetics, toxicity, and regulatory support for Investigational New Drug (IND) applications. Work performed includes preclinical and nonclinical studies such as pk/pd and metabolic profiling, glp toxicology, formulation and pharmaceutical characterization, stability testing, manufacture of clinical and nonclinical lots, and development services for male and female contraceptive products and devices. The facility also conducts androgenic, anabolic, and safety studies, manages regulatory data and project management, and supports the development of multipurpose prevention products and non-systemic contraceptive delivery systems.
