Government Description
Nichd Best Pharmaceuticals For Children Act - Pediatric Trials Network (BPCA-PTN) 2018-2026. Work performed includes COVID-19 studies, data closeout, dissemination, and engagement, development of innovative trial designs and assay developments in pediatric therapeutics, pharmacoepidemiology (real world data) studies, and pharmacology studies. Activities also include defining the safety and efficacy of posterior tibial nerve stimulation in children, bridging pharmacology and real world data through the nichd pediatric and maternal resource center, and studying the pharmacokinetics and safety of commonly used drugs in lactating women and breastfed infants. Additional tasks involve concept development, investigator development, clinical trial readiness support, identifying gaps in off-label drug use in children, maintaining centralized expert teams for protocol development, performing innovative trial designs with clinically relevant outcomes, and providing a platform for inclusion of patients with down syndrome in pharmacology-based clinical trials.
