Supports the office of commercial space transportation (AST) in evaluation of applications for commercial launch and reentry activities, regulatory development, training, research & development, among other areas. Provides advanced flight safety and system safety support, including quantitative and qualitative risk analyses, regulatory development, training, tool development, and research on advanced modeling concepts. Tasks performed include systems safety analysis, hazard identification, lifecycle management, configuration management, reliability analysis, flight safety systems development, trajectory analysis, atmospheric modeling, and mishap investigation. Operational safety support is also provided.
