Government Description
National vehicle data/statistics provides NHTSA with motor vehicle statistical data to support the agency's mission, including registration data on a national and state level for all cars and light trucks. Includes providing vehicle registration data and related information such as vehicle identification numbers (VINS), registration data by zip code, and transaction prices for registered vehicles. Data is supplied for current national and state level registration of cars and light trucks (gvw classes 1–3), new cars and light trucks (gvw classes 1–2), motorcycles, and medium/heavy vehicles (gvw classes 3–8), as well as datasets supporting fhwa analytical requirements, missing VINS in crss, vehicle travel quantity data, and specialized datasets such as bev specifications and limousine fleet penetration. Additional tasks include market surveys, reference datasets for pedestrian safety analysis, plate-to-vin conversion api support, and updated vehicle mileage data for electric vehicles.
