Government Description
The office of research and development Risk Management And Ecological Exposure Research Support (RMEERS) III contract provides research, technical, and analytical services addressing chemical and biological contamination in ecosystems, drinking water, water sources, facilities, and infrastructure systems. Work performed includes in-house research on contamination from hazardous waste, oil spills, and bioterrorist threats; evaluation of remediation processes; development of biological indicators for watershed ecosystems; analytical method development; field research for microbial and chemical contamination; characterization of biomarkers of exposure; predictive modeling for environmental impact; and preparation of data presentations. Additional tasks include analytical and field support for pfas and emerging contaminants research, laboratory support for the health effects of social, environmental, and lifestyle factors (HEAL) study, and technical support for aquatic research facility toxicity testing and methods standardization. All activities are conducted primarily at the cincinnati-area facilities of ord, including the Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center (AWBERC).
