Government Description
Streams IV provides support for the development and evaluation of technologies, processes, and tools to prevent or reduce pollution of air, land, and water, and to restore ecosystems for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Research and Development (ORD) and related organizations. Work performed includes research and evaluation of technical concepts, process options, and prototype systems; treatability studies and pilot-scale investigations; field support such as risk assessments and site characterization; development and evaluation of computer-oriented tools and decision-support systems; and technical support to EPA programs including superfund, rcra, and the office of water. Additional tasks performed under this award include cumulative impact assessment screening for class VI CO2 injection permits, improving EPA emergency response tools, warm model development and support, brownfields and environmental justice research, release modeling, waste management inventory case studies, life cycle assessment data and tools, pfas in groundwater studies, disaster debris recovery tool updates, low embodied carbon program data support, quantifying local climate emissions, recycling construction and demolition materials, plastic waste management along the Mississippi, artificial intelligence imagery analysis, spatially-explicit characterization factors for acidification and smog, contaminated groundwater management strategies, i-waste operations enhancements, integrated climate and social sciences research, and support for practice and protocol systems (SHIPP).
