Government Description
HEMODIALYSIS SERVICES FOR THE WICHITA VAMC PROVIDED ON-SITE AT THE ROBERT J. DOLE VA MEDICAL CENTER, INCLUDING BOTH ACUTE AND CHRONIC HEMODIALYSIS FOR PATIENTS, INCLUDING THOSE RESIDING IN THE TRANSITIONAL LIVING CENTER (TLC). THE CONTRACTOR SUPPLIES THE DIALYSIS SYSTEM, REGISTERED NURSING PERSONNEL, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, AND MAINTAINS THE VAMC'S WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH AAMI RECOMMENDATIONS, WITH CONTINUOUS 24/7 STAND-BY CALL COVERAGE. SERVICES ALSO INCLUDE ONGOING PATIENT EDUCATION ON SELF-CARE, KIDNEY FUNCTION, CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF KIDNEY FAILURE, MEDICATION AND DIETARY REGIMENS, CIRCULATORY ACCESS, AND HEMODIALYSIS/CAPD PRINCIPLES, AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUALIZED CARE PLANS BASED ON NURSING DIAGNOSES AND EXPECTED PATIENT OUTCOMES. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RESPONDING TO MEDICAL EMERGENCIES WITHIN SPECIFIED TIMEFRAMES AND DOCUMENTING CARE IN THE VA'S CPRS SYSTEM.
