Government Description
Radiation therapy technologists provide specialized services in the operation of the radiation oncology department at the VA New York harbor healthcare system, brooklyn campus. Includes delivering a full range of state-of-the-art radiation oncology services to veteran patients through a team of senior therapeutic medical physicists, certified medical dosimetrists, and therapeutic radiation therapists, all adhering to American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines and technical standards. Services encompass external-beam radiation therapy (including 3D CRT, imrt, igrt, linac, stereotactic radiosurgery, and whole body electron beam therapy), internal radiation therapy (hdr and low-dose rate brachytherapy), treatment planning, quality assurance, calibration analysis, and participation in relevant clinical committees. The contractor is also responsible for daily operations, developing new patient-related radiation therapy techniques, and ensuring accurate calibration and commissioning of radiation therapy equipment.
