Government Description
Nx eq heart-lung bypass units provide temporary external circulatory support to cardiopulmonary functions by oxygenating venous blood and pumping it back into the arterial system. These units, typically assembled in a modular console, include main components such as arterial pumps, suction pumps, arterial vent pump, cardioplegia pump, backup unit, and disposable items like oxygenator/heat exchanger, cardiotomy reservoir, blood filters, and tubing. The units are used primarily during open heart surgery and for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in patients with severe respiratory disorders. The contractor is responsible for providing installation, training, maintenance, and warranty services for these units at VA medical centers and facilities located in both CONUS and OCONUS.
