Government Description
Technical assistance in support of NRC rulemakings, licensing and regulatory actions for materials and waste, and environmental reviews for materials, waste, and reactor programs. Includes providing technical and scientific expertise for reviews of license applications, renewals, amendments, exemption requests, decommissioning activities, and conducting Environmental Reviews Such AS Preparing Environmental Impact Statements (EISS), Supplemental EISS (SEISS), Environmental Assessments (EAS), Technical Evaluation Reports, And Safety Evaluation Reports (SERS). Tasks also include support for rulemaking activities such as regulatory improvements for production and utilization facilities transitioning to decommissioning, emergency preparedness oversight for small modular reactors and new technologies, development of risk-informed regulatory frameworks for advanced reactors, evaluation of increased enrichment fuel designs for light-water reactors, alternative physical security requirements for advanced reactors, and reviews of NRC licensee decommissioning financial assurance.
