Government Description
Remote sensing and geospatial support within the Forest Service (FS) that provides unique business functions to the Geospatial Office (GO) including national service center coordination, technology evaluation, training, remote sensing and GIS helpdesk support, and operational support. Additional work includes geospatial technology evaluation, training and technical support, sample design and accuracy assessment, resource inventory, mapping and monitoring, minor programming and development of geospatial applications, and geospatial it management. Tasks performed under this award encompass high resolution remote sensing data acquisition and delivery, GIS support for burned area emergency response, uas technology implementation, lidar mapping, resource mapping and monitoring, disaster assessment, dashboard development, and support for international land management programs. The contract also covers the production, maintenance, and stewardship of geospatial products such as maps, datasets, and metadata, as well as technical consultation and support for forest service units at various organizational levels.
